The Magaliesberg is a natural gem, brimming with heritage, fauna and flora. As custodian of a little slice of this beautiful area, the Harties Cableway is ever-conscious of the role it can play in ensuring the environment is preserved for future generations.
As a visitor, the role you play is important, too.
Here are a few things you can do to help us keep our mountain and its surrounds clean and safe:
1. Watch your waste
When you reach the top, you'll find a peaceful oasis ringed by gorgeous views of the Hartbeespoort Dam and surrounds. Visitors are sure to enjoy relaxing on our lawns or wandering the paths around the mountain. Please take care to make use of the bins provided to dispose of your litter, so that our little oasis stays rubbish-free.
2. Look after the mountain
Our mountain is beautiful just the way it is. Please do not deface or damage the rocks. Keep an eye on younger visitors and explain that the mountain is precious, and carving or drawing on the rocks is wrong. The rocks and dusty ridges are ancient – they have seen the world change and grow, and deserve to be treated with respect.
3. Respect the cableway creatures
It's always fun to keep an eye out for animals and birds when visiting the cableway. Bring along a camera to capture any chance encounters, but please do not feed the animals. This encourages them to break away from their natural habitat and rely on humans for food. Upsetting this natural balance isn't worth even the closest of close-ups. Besides, when you try a Bugatti pizza, you won't want to part with a single slice!
4. Prevent fire
Dry grass and scrub simply do not go well with cigarette butts. Please smoke in designated smoking areas only, and dispose of your butts responsibly.
5. Share your experience
